Tramadol and Acetaminophen

Tramadol and Acetaminophen is a combination of two pain relievers. Tramadol is a centrally acting opioid analgesic that binds to mu-opioid receptors and weakly inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin. Acetaminophen is a non-opioid, non-salicylate analgesic and antipyretic. Together, they provide synergistic pain relief for moderate to severe acute pain.

Dosage by Body Weight

For adults and adolescents 12 years and older (weighing 50 kg or more): The typical recommended dose is 1 to 2 tablets (37.5 mg tramadol / 325 mg acetaminophen per tablet) every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain relief, up to a maximum of 8 tablets per day. Treatment should be limited to the shortest duration necessary. This combination is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.
